“Vegan Musician, I’ll tell you why doctors tell us to keep it within specific levels in order to be “considered healthy.” MONEY!!!! Doctors receive a lot of perks if they push the latest pill from whatever the Drug Rep is peddling. Small things at first like free pens and pads of paper for the closet to lunches for the office staff. The doctor’s get even bigger things like bonus checks and long vacation weekends somewhere. Many years ago, doctors wanted your cholesterol to be below 300. Then the statin was born and suddenly doctors wanted your cholesterol to be below 200. And the easiest way was to prescribe drugs. But because Drug and health insurance companies rule the medical world, doctors focus much more on curing the problem rather than preventing it.. And often times, it is the drug companies that fund the studies that tells us XYZ is bad for us, the findings are often skewed.

Look at how your grandmother ate. She cooked with fatback, lard, butter, and lots of meat. She likely didn’t have heart disease. Look at the historical shift. Roughly 50 years ago, the low fat, high carb diet was born and with it came an increase of heart disease while meat consumption has gone down. It is also interesting to note, the Alzheimer’s is being linked to the use of statins and and possibly to a low fat diet.”
