i’m cooking it now. one of the many simple poor people’s recipe from my childhood.
saute 1 onion in fat of choice
add 2 potatoes, chopped , water and salt/herbsalt . cook until potatoes are almost done .
add broken green beans, fresh or frozen , cook till tender . at the very end add some fresh milk . [ important to the overall taste ]
traditionally we’d use a herb called bohnenkraut. i find thyme a reasonable replacement.
i like to add carrots too , because i’m an addict and today i ‘ve added a cup full of left over kidney beans , though i would have preferred butter beans.
i’ll also be adding some left over beef and venison sausage though that will change the taste.
